Everything about our Guatemala specialty coffee
Where does the Guatemala specialty coffee come from?
Origin, altitude and varieties
It comes from Huehuetenango, one of the most prestigious coffee regions in Guatemala, grown at 1,600 masl. It is a single estate coffee (Finca Vides) of the Caturra and Bourbon varieties, both highly regarded in specialty coffee. The altitude and the climate of the area are what give this coffee its sweet, clean and elegant profile.
What are the tasting notes of this coffee?
Flavour profile in the cup
It is a vibrant, balanced coffee with notes reminiscent of almond, cocoa and red apple. Its gentle acidity brings freshness in a delicate way, alongside a medium-to-full body that gives the cup structure and depth. The finish stays sweet and pleasant, with a lingering aftertaste that reinforces its elegant, harmonious character.
Is it 100% arabica and natural?
Composition and purity
Yes. It is 100% arabica from the Caturra and Bourbon varieties, with no additives or preservatives. Bourbon is one of the most prized varieties for its sweetness and balance, and it is what gives this coffee its indulgent cocoa and nutty character.
How good is it? How many SCA points?
Score and quality
It scores 85 points on the SCA scale, a high score within specialty coffee (which starts at 80 points). It reflects its clarity in the cup, its balance and the consistency of a bean looked after at every stage, from the farm to the roast.
What processing method does it use?
Processing the bean
It uses a washed process with fermentation: the bean is fermented under controlled conditions before being washed and dried. This method heightens clarity in the cup and adds extra complexity and sweetness, bringing out its red apple and cocoa notes without losing purity.
How do you recommend drinking this coffee?
Brewing and drinking
Being smooth, sweet and balanced, it is ideal drunk black — a perfect choice if you are just starting to enjoy coffee without milk, as it is never bitter or aggressive. It works very well in espresso, a moka pot or a bean-to-cup machine, all of which bring out its body and its cocoa sweetness.
